Add the cost of Solar Power to your Regional Council rates!

We make the process easy by helping with your application and handling your solar install from design to completion.

Did you know that you can add the cost of solar to your Regional Council rates?

Hawkes Bay Regional Council (HBRC) wants to improve the healthiness of your home through a program called the ‘Sustainable Homes Program’. This program provides loans to ratepayers to install hot water heat pumps in their home and will help Hawke’s Bay to be carbon neutral by 2040 (beating the NZ government’s goal of 2050).

The savings on your power bill should almost match what you’re repaying the council back each month – making solar a no-brainer decision for most homeowners!

Below is a list of frequently asked questions about solar installation.

  • What is solar?
A Solar Photovoltaic system harness the sun’s free energy and reduces your power bill. The panels produce energy which is transferred through an inverter to create electricity which can be used by all electrical appliances in your house. It’s important to note that it doesn’t need to be hot to produce solar energy – just light.
