- Can I install solar myself?Yes you can, if you're an electrician. However we don’t recommend this as solar installation requires specialist knowledge. Also, we do require photographic evidence to ensure you get your warranty.
- Do I need a building consent?No.
- Will I need lines consent and a new meter?Yes you will, however we organise this for you. Lines consent is a must for every network around NZ in order to obtain compliance and a new meter is required so that you can import and export power from the grid.
- What if I have a ‘solar-ready’ cylinder? That’s great but it isn’t needed for solar power, as any cylinder can be powered by solar panels.
- Will I need to be with a specific power company?Yes, you do. Most power companies now support Solar, however, feel free to check with us or them directly to see if they provide import/export metering.
- Can you retrofit solar, or is it only for new builds?Solar costs approximately the same to be installed to an existing home as it does for a new build.
